The above comment by Chris points out exactly what I?ve been saying
about debt company fees. They are at the WRONG end of the program. In
the old days, we used to charge a very small retainer up front, but
the main fee was based on a percentage of the savings achieved during
the negotiation. So the fees were based on success, and did not interfere
with the client?s ability to accumulate funds for some early settlements.
Nowadays, it?s a rare company that operates this way, and the result is
that very few settlements take place during the first 12 months clients
are enrolled in a third-party debt settlement program. Skip the fees! Learn
how to do this yourself. You?ll be out of debt faster, and you?ll have
more control over the process.

The above are both spam comments I’ve received. Josh beat me to it again but I want to say a few things, aside from the obvious: spammers suck.

What I would really like to know is what is spam for? I see so many spam… products (emails/posts/comments) that I wonder if there really is anyone administering it. What I’m getting at is that say someone does send away their banking and credit card info is there anyone at the other end of those email addresses that actually receives it? I’ve attempted to email or visit some of the sites these spammers push and I get 404s or “mailer demon”. I don’t understand… really I don’t.

Are they viruses perhaps? I’m sure some of them are, though I was under the assumption that viruses came in attachments and I haven’t seen a piece of spam with an attachment for ages. It’s just strange that someone would pay for the stuff, webspace and bandwidth are not free after all. I suppose some use gmail and yahoo which are free.

I don’t know, it just seems to me that there isn’t any point to it anymore and to see someone putting the effort into continuing it baffles me. Or perhaps I’m completely wrong and there are people that fall for it and there are persons on the other end collecting millions…

I wonder if the comment here is real. The listed website is real… probably just some advertising.

  2. Nils Geylen Says:

I was thinking the same. About Mr Quinn and the spam we get. It’s absurd.

  3. Tom Says:

Unfortunately it is spam. I took a closer reading and some of the sentences don’t make any sense whatsoever. Quite impressive when you consider that there’s a lot of text and some of it actually makes sense.

  4. Nils Geylen Says:

Aw, you deleted it? Probably best though. Weird comment and actually rather impressive indeed. Voodoo men those spammers.

  5. Adam Horvath Says:

The spam is made to look as real as possible to get past spam blockers. I would assume that those links DID work, but were shut down once the ISP found out that that person was spamming from that address – which just happened to be before you checked it. Spam is retarded, and I’m sure no one clicks on them. That goes for most ads, too. It’s too bad you can’t kick these people in the nuts like you would if someone tried to shout jibberish at you on the street…
