Shift that paradigm

It is so very paradigmatical that persons paradigmatize so very often incorrect paradigms.

What a painfully cheesy opening.  Of course what I’m talking about here is that persons are almost entirely unwilling to be changed by influences external to themselves.

Persons hang on to their views and ideas as if they have some tremendous value.  I’m not saying that paradigms don’t have value but they must have it independent of who creates them.

I’ve noticed so often that an idea or suggestion (paradigm?) will be rejected if it comes to a person from an outside source, even if the person agrees with it entirely.  My observations have been that a person has to internalize these suggestions, mutate them somehow to convince themselves that they were the ones who brought them forth.  Only then can a person successfully adopt a new paradigm.

Its as if we are incapable of recognizing the goodness and truth in others.  Rarely have I seen someone hear an idea and adopt it on its merits alone.  Aside from superior/subordinate relationships I mean.  I say rarely because I have seen it of course, there are no unbroken laws, but it looks as if the acceptance of a new idea is something that needs to be worked on.

I suppose its all part of man’s natural resistance to change and the fear of the unknown and all that hullabaloo.

Has anyone else had this kind of experience?
