Movie review: 300

Directed by: Zack Snyder

So then I don’t think anyone hasn’t heard of this movie.

I enjoyed it. Those that agree with me know the obvious reasons, the awesome factor, great visuals and passable acting.

I’d like to mention the moral of the story though. What made 300 better than most of the films that fit into that now dry “awesome” “action” category is the moral and how it is beautifully woven into the script (and the whole film actually).

Though somewhat historically inaccurate the film is about the 300 Spartans that saved the newborn western world. I won’t go on about the details. Like my earlier post about principles (the same reason this movie appealed to me no doubt), the characters in the film refused to bow to something they saw as wrong and evil. The message is beautifully conveyed in the script and the action of the film. It is this successful conveyance that was so delightful to watch, at once heavy-handed and subtle, plain as day where you’d expect it and a needle in a haystack where you don’t, but always there.

Also, the treatment of women (I know its not entirely accurate) was pleasing to see.

So, thats why I enjoyed the flick. Go watch it if you haven’t already. A warning though, its gory at certain parts.
